| To stop the expansion of the coronavirus in the Region | The federation of families of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities asks to leave home only what is necessary and to reduce social encounters as much as possible.People with intellectual disabilities and their families want to set an example of responsibility and warn of the critical moment in the Region of Murcia. These recommendations will reach more than 3,000 families, almost 900 professionals, and 300 volunteers throughout the Region.

Plena Inclusión Región de Murcia has recommended to all people with intellectual and development disabilities in their associations as well as their families, professionals and volunteers that they take extreme health precautions to contain the strong expansion of the coronavirus in our community.

Given the growth in cases registered in recent days, the federation reminds all its members that we are living a critical moment to control the pandemic and that it is in the hands of each one of us, with our daily behaviors, to put a stop to the situation.

For this reason, the 3,000 families, almost 900 professionals and 300 volunteers have been expressly asked to go out into the streets only what is essential and to reduce their social encounters with friends, family, etc.

to the maximum.

Also,They are reminded that they must remain alert in other measures such as frequent hand washing, social physical distance of two meters with others and avoid crowded places. The president of the federation, Joaquín Barberá, explained that the situation is very worrying and, beyond the fact that many of the people with intellectual disabilities, autism, cerebral palsy or Down syndrome may belong to groups of special risk, “families of Full Inclusion must be an example of responsibility and go one step beyond the mandatory measures ”.

In this sense, Barberá recalled that a “voluntary confinement” has been requested as far as possible and that, therefore, “we must restrict our outings to the street to what is strictly necessary: ??go to work, to the center of our association , the doctor, etc."" People with intellectual disabilities were already an example of responsible behavior during the quarantine and we must be at their height now and be so to avoid going back to that situation, "explained Barberá.On the other hand, face-to-face activity in the centers of the Full Inclusion associations was resumed without incident and with the highest security measures.

The federation prepared an Action Plan for the provision of the services agreed with the Murcian Institute of Social Action (IMAS) and make compatible the care for people with intellectual disabilities and health measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

This protocol provides for the maintenance of supports in any possible health scenario. The non-profit associations promoted by families of the Full Inclusion Region of Murcia manage 7 early care centers for 676 children, 11 day centers for 879 adults and residences and homes with a hundred places, among other services.

In total, 850 professionals provide support for them.
