The Cajamar cooperative bank has promoted a solidarity initiative together with Consum and Coviran to support the assistance work that the Red Cross Responds has been developing throughout the country in order to provide food to vulnerable families affected by covid-19. Employees of the Cajamar Group have donated 40,000 euros from the collection made during the pandemic to collaborate with solidarity initiatives aimed at addressing social needs generated by covid-19.
The amount of this donation will be used to purchase 645 food kits and basic hygiene products, such as oil, rice, milk, preserves, diapers, cleaning products, etc.
in the two food distribution companies. For their part, Consum and Coviran will deliver the products purchased at wholesale prices and without transportation costs to the Red Cross, and will also encourage their employees to join the donation and will encourage other social economy companies to also participate in the initiative. Finally, the Red Cross Responds will proceed to distribute the batches of food and hygiene products purchased in Consum and Coviran with the money donated by the employees of the Cajamar Group, of which 1,290 people will be beneficiaries in a situation of vulnerability, with health problems, with disabilities, the elderly, women in social difficulties and immigrants, among other groups at risk of social exclusion. The Red Cross Respond plan is a concrete plan of action and comprehensive response launched in March to respond to the situation caused by the pandemic.
After its expansion in May, in total the Red Cross Respond plan will last 9 months and during that period it is expected to serve more than 2,400,000 vulnerable people, mobilizing more than 54,000 volunteers, 26,000 of them newly incorporated, They will materialize the responses provided throughout the territory through more than 1,400 service points and also telematically and / or by telephone.
