Three European leading companies in the production, processing and marketing of organic products, among which is COATO, have been selected by the European Union to participate in an International Conference on: Sustainable Agricultural Development, organic production, designations of origin and trade fair, held in the capital of Colombia on Monday, under the auspices of the European Union and the presidency and intervention of both the European Agriculture Commissioner Phil Hogan as the Ministers of Agriculture and Trade of Colombia.
The session of the conference specifically devoted to organic production (ecological) in the European Union and the Andean countries (Colombia, Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia), he was moderated by Deputy Director-General for Agriculture of the European Commission, the Spanish Diego Canga Fano.
After the brief presentation of the moderator, who assured those present that the three companies invited by the European Commission was a model of success and benchmarks and prominent at the European level in different aspects of organic production, they involved the President of the Dutch company EOSTA as well as the known German company HIPP, notably at the European level respectively, for their leadership in both the trade and distribution of horticultural products and the ecological preparations for infant use.
President COATO explained later, to the many attending the conference, what activities of this cooperative company were in the field of organic production, as well as the principles, guidelines and values â€‹â€‹that have contributed to the relative success of COATO, not it is only European leader in area of â€‹â€‹organic farming, with more than 14,200 ha., it is still the only company in the agro sector in the European Union to 28 members, which holds the European Prize for the Environment of the European Commission and UNEP from the ONU.
The Delegation of authorities and European companies, led by Commissioner Hogan, which has been strengthened by the coincidence of holding a trade mission of 35 European companies with Colombian distributors;
He was received by the President of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos at the Presidential Palace.
According to the President of COATO, José Luis Hernández, participation in this international conference on organic agriculture and trade mission held these days, it has been of great interest because it allowed for several days, to maintain broad and fruitful contacts of companies members of European delegations with the heads of agriculture in the European Commission.
And especially with Commissioner Hogan as well as the highest representatives of the Directorate General of Agriculture, the Office of the Commissioner and the large team of collaborators from the European Commission for this event moved to Bogota;
where they have had the personal support of Ambassador of the European Union in Colombia and Ecuador, as well as the entire management team of this delegation in Bogota.
