The Association for Cultural and Tourism Promotion Totana "Kalathos" organized for the second consecutive year, the Archaeological Field Work II in the archaeological site of "The Cabezuelas", being held between 27 July and 7 of August, according to local sources reported in a statement.
The Mayor of Totana, Juan José Canovas, and Council of Archaeological Sites and Citizen Participation, Inmaculada Agustin Blazquez and Gonzalo Martinez, today visited the field and to learn firsthand the excavation and research being made during these days.
This project is being developed under a collaboration agreement between the City of Totana and "Kalathos" Association, in which are involved the Department of Youth and Citizen Participation of the need to enable the development of leisure activities during the summer.
In the same combines, simultaneously, an educational and training process with the participation of volunteers in a scientific research project of cultural interest for the town of Totana.
This activity is included in the municipal program "Totana Summer 2015" it is being held with great success of participation.
It has a total of 30 people are participating in the excavation of this site between the management team of the excavation, the association staff and a large group of volunteers, some of whom are repeating the experience of the previous year.
Participants are making an approach to the methodology of archaeological research and the performance of the excavation itself, inventory, topography, field drawing, registration cards of structures, archaeological studies photography and ceramics, among many other tasks.
The "Kalathos" Municipal Association thanked the support received for its commitment to the excavation of this site as well as the new government team, which has also received its full support and readiness for cooperation;
and the collaboration of the Heritage Service of the Region of Murcia and the collaboration and sponsorship of various companies of Totana.
City officials highlighted and appreciated the great work being volunteers in this field of work and guaranteed institutional collaboration, as the possibilities of the City, to continue to work across the board in this field because it can be a source of attraction tourist and archaeological first order, as with La Bastida.
