The Ministry of Health and Social Policy, through the Instituto Murciano Social Action (IMAS), has signed an agreement with the Consistory of Totana, amounting to EUR 212 165, to fund 19 places for people with mental illness in this county and that are located in the center of Totana Town Day.

IMAS Managing Director, Fernando Mateo, said during his visit to the multipurpose center for people with disabilities 'Princess Letizia' of the town that "this agreement is a substantial improvement of social services that are provided from 2005 through the Municipal Service Psychosocial Support ".

The managing director explained that "the main objective is to promote a better quality of life for people with mental illness, enhance their autonomy and adequate conditions of living in a family environment and socio-community".

IMAS Managing Director visited the multipurpose center for people with disabilities 'Princess Letizia' accompanied by the Mayor of Totana, Isabel Maria Sanchez, and gave the 21 users Psychosocial Support Services diplomas certifying their participation in various activities scheduled in the academic year 2012-2013.

This event was also attended by family and monitors the users of that service, who enjoyed an extensive exhibition of the works and crafts, such as key chains or items of ceramics executed throughout the year.

Multipurpose center

The multipurpose center for people with disabilities 'Princess Letizia' is a ground floor building and divided into two spaces: the Day Centre for people with intellectual disabilities 'José Moya' and the Early Childhood Center.

In addition, the municipality has the Day Centre for People with Mental Illness Council of Totana.

During this year, the IMAS provides a total of 649 220 euros for the maintenance of all these services.

Thus, 78,860 euros earmarked for Early Childhood Center with 95 users, 358 195 euros to the Day Centre 'José Moya' with 32 squares arranged and 212 165 euros for the 19 seats in the Day Centre for people with mental illness under the City of Totana.
