The Ministry of Health and Social Policy, through Murcia Health Service (SMS), today signed a cooperation agreement with the City of Totana to strengthen the emergency and health emergencies that provided in this county.
Thus, the Consistory establishes a voluntary service in a Basic Life Support vehicle and electromedical equipment, whereas by the SMS will provide the necessary consumables for this new resource.
SMS Managing Director, Jose Antonio Alarcon, said: "The signing of this agreement is to increase existing resources in Totana since now the residents of this town have two vehicles Basic Life Support."
Alarcon said that "Basic Life Support vehicle will be operational only with volunteers and may medicalize by electromedical equipment and a physician when his speech was accurate."
Volunteers said Alarcon, who will activate the unit by calling Health Emergency Coordination Centre of Murcia, as usual, and his performance will be led by those working in the center.
Currently, the municipality has a Totana Emergency Department of Primary Care (PCES) working in ten doctors and ten nurses.
So, Monday to Saturday, in the morning, there is a doctor and a nurse, and in the afternoon and evening, two doctors and two nurses, while on Sundays there are two doctors and two nurses 24 hours.
In addition, the managing director said that "this core population can also make use of the Emergency Unit is in Alhama and of which is located in Lorca."

So far this year, according to provisional data from the Health Emergency Management, there have been calls in the municipality that required 430 and 328 healthcare resources were mobilized.
