The Regional Executive Committee of the union Union of Small Farmers and Cattle Ranchers (UPA) in Murcia today held its quarterly meeting at the City of Totana to evaluate and plan their latest actions, schedule other actions for the coming weeks and address some issues that affect this municipality.

During the whole morning representatives of this agrarian organization, with its general secretary at the head, Marcos Alarcón, and the local representative in Totana, Pedro Martínez Casanova, have held a working meeting in the Totanero Consistory.

At the end of the meeting the mayor, Andrés García, offered an institutional reception in the plenary hall to the executive members of this union in the Region of Murcia, also with implantation in the totanero municipality.

The mayor recalled that the City has been collaborating for years with the UPA in the formation of its associates, farmers and cattlemen of Totana and its region, through the cession of municipal facilities in the Local Development Center located in the industrial area "El Saladar ".

On the other hand, Marcos Alarcón thanked the totanero Consistory for its collaboration in the training initiatives that this union organization is promoting in this municipality, as well as for the offer to offer the City Council to host the meeting of the Regional Executive Committee of the Union of Small Farmers and Cattle Ranchers.

In addition, he recalled that this governing body of the UPA meets periodically at the regional headquarters of Murcia, although sometimes it moves to different municipalities where they are implemented, as is the case of Totana.

Among the issues addressed today at the meeting, some of which affect the municipality of Totana, highlighted the water deficit and unfulfilled promises of the regional government after the accidents occurred in January last year due to the effect of snowfall on farms and greenhouses, demanding the compliance of the aid to farmers and producers for the important damages caused.
