Totana City Council and the Greenways Consortium inform the owners of land adjacent to the Cartagena-Totana Road, as it passes through this last term, of the consequences that will result from the ordinance of use and operation of said infrastructure as a result of the application of this new regulation.
The Consortium of the Greenways of the Region of Murcia is working on the preparation of an ordinance that will regulate the use, protection and operation of greenways in this autonomous community, and that will directly affect the Cartagena-Totana Road in accordance with the own uses and application regulations.
Last Tuesday, the "Ginés Rosa" Theater of the Socio-cultural Center "La Cárcel" hosted an informative assembly with those affected to give them an account of the contents of this norm and its operation.
The meeting was attended by the mayor, Andrés García, the councilor for the Environment, Antonia Camacho, municipal technicians, and the manager of the regional consortium, Juan Soria, as well as other members of the municipal government.
In addition, it was explained that until February 16, allegations could be presented to the content of the regulation, some of which will be presented in a pertinent manner by the totanero Consistory itself.
The purpose of the approval of this ordinance is to regulate the use and operation of the Greenways of the Region in order to establish a clear and precise legal framework that ensures the proper management of the same.
The regulation will be mandatory for users, public entities, future public and private consortiums and any person or group that in any way interferes with the proper functioning and conservation of this public good.
The ordinance will collect the general provisions;
the permitted, authorized and prohibited uses;
the improper use of the Way;
as well as the legal and sanctioning regime (classification of infractions).
The Greenways are the old disused railroad tracks conditioned as infrastructures for non-motorized displacements;
and due to their railway origin, they are endowed with special qualities, such as maximum accessibility, ease and safety.
They are ideal spaces to promote sustainable mobility and the practice of walking and cycling, which have become infrastructures for enjoyment and meeting where to practice healthy habits that improve their well-being and quality of life.
