Totanero City Council, through the government team and this Department, has a great concern for the situation detected in Totana, which warns us that, especially among adolescents and pre-teens, are developing behaviors or practices harmful to their own physical integrity and health, as well as for its role and integration in society.
From the City Council, actions are being carried out, with the invaluable involvement and collaboration of associations and collectives, actions aimed at finding spaces and leisure alternatives, promotion of activities throughout the year, insertion in working life, and so on.
In spite of all these initiatives and always conditioned by the scarcity of economic resources, it is necessary to look for other solutions.
After several meetings with the staff of the City Council of the different areas involved and also with groups in the social field, it is concluded that it is important to act in the family and social environment of these young people in order to intervene where they are detected. risk situations.
Given this problem, it is necessary to intervene with socio-educational action programs, such as the one that is being carried out successfully in other municipalities and communities, through the figure of "street educators".
These have the ability to affect the most unprotected population centers and in an essential area of ​​socialization that institutions do not reach, acting on the street, accessing the different spaces of the young person's life in conflict, mediating between this and the environment social to try to solve the conflict in the same place where it is generated.
In recent years, the situation of widespread economic crisis at the national level, coupled with cuts in investment in education and social programs, ends up leading to undesirable behavior patterns and marginalization, especially among adolescents and young people, be a very vulnerable population sector.
Faced with this extremely serious situation, with high levels of absenteeism, addictions, gender-based violence among minors, among other problems, the City Council demands the necessary resources to address a problem, which if continued can result in a very complicated situation for these young people, their family and society in general.
