The socialist Andres Garcia Cánovas has been invested mayor of Totana for the next two years, in compliance with the Government Pact reached with Izquierda Unida in June 2015.

In his speech, Garcia Cánovas stressed the normality with which institutional change has occurred and announced some of the measures of his government program.
"My main objective is to stabilize the economic situation of this City Council, as it is the engine for Totana to move forward."

The General Plan will be another basic pillar of the new mayor's policy.

For his part, the Secretary General of the PSOE RM Rafael González Tovar has stressed that "it is a day of joy", because a new stage begins and with the Mayor of Totana more than 60 percent of the municipalities in the Region are governed by The Socialist Party.
