| "Within the scope of our Municipality and throughout recent history, Rural Women have been the essential support of the families that inhabited and inhabit the Towns of Totana "| In 2007, the United Nations General Assembly, in its Resolution 32/136, showed its support and recognition of the figure of Rural Women.

Since then, institutionally, the International Day of Rural Women has been celebrated, representing almost 45% of the agricultural and livestock labor force. The contribution and work of women in that world has guaranteed the survival of millions of people in the most depressed areas of the planet, being the group that has suffered the most injustices and struggled to overcome serious situations in countries with an economic and very complicated social."More than ever, we believe it is necessary to vindicate Rural Women's Day, since this year 2020, when the Covid 19 pandemic has removed the very foundations of our society and our economic and social development, it has become clear that the World Rural and the women that compose it play a vital role in the survival of both small towns and large cities.

"This year the celebration of this day is centered in tribute to women and girls who stand out for their decisive role in creating resilience to face climate change and its consequences.

We could affirm that the leading role in the effort of Rural Women has guaranteed that resistance as peoples and collectives and has been a lever of impulse and change in the advancement of society as a whole. In the scope of our Municipality and throughout recent history, Rural Women have been the essential support of the families that inhabited and inhabit the districts of Totana.

Lébor, Raiguero, Paretón, Costera-Ńorica, Los Huertos, Mortí or la Sierra, have had a large and stable population that has guaranteed the activity and conservation of spaces in the totanero field.

Women in these areas have played and still play a fundamental role in the cohesion of the family, their decisive contribution in the Aid to the Economy or their work in Agriculture and Livestock Farms or in small facilities next to homes, as a guarantee of food of the family nucleus and economic aid to subsist or improve the family economy. This immense work of rural women has also helped the municipality as a fundamental element in emancipation in recent years, achieving business responsibilities in agricultural and livestock farms with a unique leadership that is consolidated and grows.

That commitment, modernization and tenacity of Rural Women, has prevented the depopulation of our districts and the modernization of basic productive sectors, in addition to improving the quality of life, housing, services and infrastructure.

The fact that today, in the responsibilities of our districts, the majority are women, corroborates that great work of progress piloted and led by Rural Women in our town and in others in the Region or the Region of Murcia.
