A person has been arrested as an alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health for cultivation and drug manufacturing; and fraud of electric fluid. The investigation began at the beginning of the month, when members of the Benemérita Citizen Security Prevention, thanks to citizen collaboration, were alerted to the possible existence of a marijuana plantation in a warehouse in the El Saladar de Totana industrial estate. From that moment, the Civil Guard established numerous discrete surveillance devices that allowed obtaining indications that gave credibility to the information provided by citizens, by detecting an illegal hook-up to the electricity supply and a strong characteristic smell of marijuana. Investigators found that it was an establishment dedicated to the sale and purchase of antique furniture, so an inspection was carried out. At first, the civil guards found several rooms attached to the main nave equipped with heat lamps, air extractors, as well as numerous empty pots, all intended for indoor plant cultivation. The strong smell of marijuana caused officers to examine several of the old furniture that was stored, in some of which, and locked, up to 19 kilos of marijuana stems were found cut and ready for treatment. The 'Drantic' operation has culminated, in less than a week since the facts became known, with the dismantling of an illicit greenhouse, as well as the arrest of the person who ran it, a male, Spanish man, 60 years old and a neighbor.
