The mayor of Totana, Juan José Cánovas, accompanied by the spokesmen of the municipal groups and councilors of the Corporation, kept a minute of silence this afternoon at the memory of those who died during the coronavirus pandemic, whose act took place at the gates of the Totanero Town Hall, in the Plaza de la Constitución.With this, Totana has joined the call made by the Government of the Nation, which yesterday decreed ten days of official mourning throughout the Spanish State.As a consequence of the state mourning, the City Council has lowered the flags that fly in the main municipal buildings distributed throughout the city at half-mast.
This agreement was also endorsed last Thursday by the municipal plenary session during the last extraordinary session.In the symbolic act, representatives of the Security Forces and Bodies have also met, in this case the Local Police and Civil Guard, as well as Civil Protection, who have been active protagonists during the time of confinement and still today in the context of state of alarm; as well as managers of different associations and social and professional groups and anonymous neighbors.The Government of Spain had convened for 12.00 tomorrow a minute of silence in tribute to the victims of the coronavirus, in what will be the first major act of tribute to those killed by the pandemic –27,117 today, according to the latest data of the Ministry of Health - within the official 10-day mourning approved this Tuesday by the Council of Ministers.
