The Totana Weekly Market will resume this coming Wednesday, May 20, with a total of 32 food stalls exclusively, in a reduced section of Rambla de La Santa Avenue (right side upstream), from the urban intersections of the Cruz de los Hortelanos streets to Alberto Gray, respectively.This has been agreed after several coordination meetings by the mayor, Juan José Cánovas, and the councilor, Javier Baños, with representatives of this municipal public service, after discussing the advisability after analyzing the Public Health and Safety reports issued by the Local police.
Merchants had shuffled in recent weeks the alternatives offered by the City Council to settle within the legal parameters established by the state of alarm. The proposed venue does not affect residential housing; and the enclosure can be perimeter, avoiding access through non-perimeter areas.
In this way, an entry point and an exit point will be set, controlled by personnel who ensure compliance with the maximum capacity (1/3 of the usual capacity). The service is going to be launched but users must understand that it will not be provided under the traditional conditions known at all.
In fact, the maximum capacity will be set by authorized personnel based on the total surface of the market, marking the aisles for transit, and guaranteeing the social distance of two meters in any case. In the access points there will be information elements and posters that inform about the protection measures; and the control personnel will inform about the need to use the protection means and the obligation not to touch the articles.
In addition, there will be litter bins and waste disposal areas throughout the market. Only food stalls with a maximum of 32 stalls out of the existing 61 would be authorized, and the election will be determined next Monday by lottery before a notary public.
The maximum surface dimensions of each station will be 6.00 by 3.00 meters; so that the posts will guarantee a distance of 3 meters between posts, in parallel. The posts will be separated by 8.94 meters at the front, which will be marked with beacons or markings, so that the traffic of entry and exit becomes fluid, and a social distance, even in ambulation, of two meters is guaranteed.
