The expansion works of the new Alhama-Totana Fire Station will officially open on Friday, February 14, at 9:30 am, after the improvement works undertaken in recent years by the Autonomous Community.
The reform has allowed improving the distribution of uses and expanding the capacity of the facilities, from which five municipalities are served and other parks are supported;
and the investment of the works has finally amounted to more than 328,000 euros.
The expansion of this infrastructure was included in the Strategic Plan of Modernization of the Consortium of Fire and Rescue of the Region of Murcia (CEIS).
During this time, the provisional park has been located in a modular warehouse of the industrial estate "El Saladar" of Totana.
The event will be attended by the president of the Autonomous Community, Fernando López Miras, the Minister of Transparency, Participation and Public Administration, Beatriz Ballesteros, and the mayors of Totana and Alhama de Murcia, Juan José Cánovas and Mariola Guevara, respectively, between Other authorities
With this plan, the Autonomous Community intends to improve the public service offered to the public in terms of firefighting;
and in this case it will benefit the municipalities of Alhama de Murcia, Totana, Aledo and Librilla, as well as part of Fuente Ãlamo.
It also supports the fire stations of Alcantarilla, Mula, Mazarrón and Lorca.
The works have allowed to obtain a general increase of the surfaces destined to administrative zones;
a greater number of parking lots for intervention vehicles;
the compartmentalization between administrative and garage areas and the improvement of exterior lighting.
The expansion has made it possible, through the construction of two porches, to increase the surface of the parking space, going from 4 to 6 intervention exits, and to change the use of one of the porches to adapt it to an administrative building.
The location of the staircase has also been changed in order to homogenize the distribution of spaces.
At present, the Fire Station, whose facilities date from 1992, includes a building of dependencies, from where through a lobby there is access to a control room, office, distributor, kitchen, bathroom and a staircase that leads to the upper part, where a dressing room, showers, bedroom and a gym are located.
There is a parking lot with 4 intervention exits, and next to them a warehouse-workshop.
Once the gymnasium and warehouse have been removed from the dependencies building, and increased in surface with the change of use, the space released is occupied by the expansion of the kitchen, intervention area and control room on the ground floor, and in the upper floor has more space for the bedrooms, as well as for the gym, now located next to the intervention hall. The current staff of the Alhama-Totana park is fifteen firefighters and the officer.
