The Local Government Board has recently approved the proposal of the Councilor for Urban Planning and Services to initiate urban and traffic reorganization of the area of the Cruz de Los Hortelanos, so this initiative will be valued and studied by the municipal services of Urban Planning and Local Police for technical evaluation.

Thus, it is planned to prepare a proposal for urban planning for the area that must be presented at the next Pedestrian Commission and assessed by its members.

The proposal advocates to close the road that gives direct access to Cruz de Los Hortelanos, between the landscaped islet and the tents of the bars, being able to access it from Rambla de La Santa Avenue, turning right after the islet.

This initiative also intends that the urban area earned be destined exclusively for the use and enjoyment of pedestrians;

Therefore, a management proposal for the area, which adopts and adjusts to the aforementioned solution, will be prepared.

The increasing volume of the mobile park in urban areas has in turn increased the number of situations of conflict with the pedestrian and the appearance of some 'black spots' within it.

Totana is no stranger to this phenomenon, so time has been responsible for defining some areas of conflict between pedestrians and vehicles in this municipality: one of them occurs in the junction area of Cruz de Los Hortelanos street with the Rambla de La Santa avenue.

On the one hand, the fork of the avenue in two streets of road traffic causes the crosswalks to be long and dangerous to cross.

In addition, the passage that exists between the tents of the hotel terraces has an immediate exit to the road, making it very dangerous.

To this it is added that the STOP stop of Antonio Martínez Garrido street is located far from the bridge and with low visibility over the rest of the lanes for the vehicles;

and around the landscaped islet that contains the emblematic Cruz de Los Hortelanos, there are constant parking lots.

The rectilinear itinerary of the vehicles to Cruz de los Hortelanos makes them circulate at quite a speed.

This, coupled with the presence of parking lots next to the crosswalks, causes accidents and accidents to occur when they leave.
