Last Monday, December 16, the annual Murcia sports gala 2019, organized by the sports press association, was held at the auditorium and congress center Víctor Villegas de Murcia.
The event was attended by the President of the Region of Murcia Fernando López Miras, accompanied by the Minister of Tourism, Youth and Sports, Cristina Sánchez López, the president of the Association of the Sports Press of the Region of Murcia, Juan de Dios Martínez, the general director of Sports, Fran Sánchez.
The event was also attended by the president of the Spanish Sports Press Association, Julián Redondo, along with its secretary, Oswaldo Menéndez.
Representing the City Council of Totana attended the Councilor for Education, Agustín Gonzalo Martínez Hernández.
In this act the athlete of Fuente Ãlamo Mariano García García and the Murcia basketball player Laura Gil Collado received their awards as best athletes of the Autonomous Community in this year 2019. Similarly, other outstanding athletes such as former tennis player Nicolás Almagro, the former National soccer coach, José Antonio Camacho, El Pozo Murcia Futsal and FC Cartagena, among others.
At the gala, the CEIP student Santiago de Totana, Jaime Cánovas Crespo, received the first prize in his category for his work “Alejandro Valverde, an excellent example†for the V Sports Merit Writing Contest “José Francisco Pérez Sánchez†for Young people in School Age of the Region of Murcia 2019. In this work the student highlighted the figure of the Murcia cyclist as an example for him as a fighting athlete and with great values ​​such as effort, companionship, generosity and above all, a good person.
During the award ceremony, he was accompanied by the Director of the CEIP Santiago school, Alfonso Cifuentes, since the call also included a prize for the school whose student was awarded.
