The Department of Health raises a motion requiring the Ministry to meet the deadlines established for access to health benefits of a scheduled nature

The Councilor for Health, Immaculate Blázquez, has raised a motion to the ordinary plenary session in October demanding that the Ministry comply with the deadlines established for access to scheduled and non-urgent health benefits set forth in Article 5 of Decree 25/2006 of March 31.

According to the motion of the mayor, for some time now, the growth of waiting lists of our health system in general and especially aggravated in some specific areas of Health, as is almost the Area III, to The one that belongs to the municipality of Totana, is causing damage to patients who have to suffer these delays to be treated by a specialist or surgically operated.

In fact, the Association in Defense of Public Health warns of "the persistence of the great differences between health areas: the most affected citizens are those who live in the areas of Lorca, Cartagena and Mar Menor, a situation that is perpetuated since years ago. "

In a published report it is shown that patients who live in the Health area of Lorca, may suffer delay times to be attended by a specialist of up to ten months, while those who reside in the city of Murcia barely face about six days delay.

Article 5 of Decree 25/2006 of March 31 indicates the following regarding maximum access periods: "The maximum periods of access to health benefits of a scheduled and non-urgent nature that are listed below will be the following: interventions surgical, 150 calendar days and for first external consultations, 50 calendar days. "

All this precarious situation is suffered by both patients and health professionals who work to give the best possible care and that for years have been denouncing the cuts in the staff that are resulting in all these circumstances that impact on non-compliance with deadlines , very long waiting lists, and in some cases that a mild ailment is aggravated by the great delay in specialized care.
