The mayor of Totana, Juan José Cánovas, has expressed concern about the serious political situation in Ecuador, which affects many citizens, neighbors and neighbors with that nationality residing in this municipality and their families.

The first mayor Totanero has deeply regretted the events that are taking place in Ecuador since last October 3 following protests about the rise in fuel, which have spread to different parts of the country.
The totanero councilor has advocated that "calm, moderation and political and civic sensibility, as well as the right to peaceful assembly" be established and hopes that all actors will intervene to avoid further acts of violence and end social tensions .
The indigenous movement is leading the general strike against the "pack" of President Lenin Moreno;
and the economic adjustment measures promoted by the IMF include a labor reform and the elimination of gasoline and diesel subsidies.
Some more than 4,000 citizens of Ecuadorian origin reside in Totana, many of whom are already families with second-generation Spanish children.
