The City Council again offers UMU university students the possibility of participating as volunteers in projects of social interest for the 2019/20 academic year

The Department of Youth of the City of Totana offers one more year to university students, through the Service of Attention to Diversity and Volunteering of the University of Murcia, the possibility of participating as volunteers in projects of social interest for this academic year 2019 / 2020.

These projects are as follows:

Educational reinforcement for children in socio-cultural disadvantage.

Social intervention with the following groups:

Dependent Seniors

People with intellectual disabilities

People with mental illness

In the case of the Educational Reinforcement project, it is about preventing and reducing problems of failure, absenteeism or premature abandonment of studies, offering said reinforcement to those Primary School students derived from the educational centers, during two weekly sessions of one hour and half each;

In the afternoon, during the academic year 2019/2020.

On the other hand, in the programs of Social Intervention with Dependent Elderly People, with Intellectual Disability and Mental Illness, it consists in collaborating with the professionals of the three Day Centers of the City Council of Totana.

In addition, the organization and development of daily activities are promoted, such as workshops, individual and group accompaniments, outings and extraordinary activities, accompaniment to home visits, among others;

in the morning hours throughout the year, except the month of August.

This initiative offers the possibility for university students to participate in extremely enriching activities, both personally and for a professional future, as reported by the Councilor for Youth, Immaculate Blázquez.

Each young person will contribute with their volunteer tasks contributing their formation and capacity, their abilities and skills, their creativity, their attitudes, their involvement and motivation, and so on.

The mayor of Youth points out that it is also worth highlighting the social impact that this voluntary activity entails since it is a useful action and for the benefit of the community.

As consideration for these volunteer tasks, students will receive university credits in addition to the corresponding certificate that will accredit the performance of said voluntary activity.
