The Cultural Association "El Cañico", with the collaboration of the Department of Culture of the City of Totana, will organize on Sunday February 3 a trip to visit the Medieval Market of Orihuela, known as the largest in Spain.
Interested persons must formalize their registration in the Sociocultural Center "La Cárcel" and the departure of the tour will be at 9:00 am from the side of the municipal park "Marcos Ortiz.
The price is 15 euros and includes the bus (round trip), travel insurance and civil liability insurance.
Orihuela welcomes its traditional medieval market in its XIX edition, which will take place on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of February.
The meeting between artisans, merchants and artists is the most multitudinous of all Spain.
This party has been celebrated uninterrupted since 1998.
In addition, it has a program of activities for all ages that includes music, dances, puppets, theatrical animations and workshops of ancient crafts that show in a reliable way how society lived in medieval times.
The historic center, like every year, becomes the ideal setting to recreate the Middle Ages celebrating the Medieval Market;
a highly anticipated event, where joy and fun are guaranteed with recreational activities for all ages: music, dances, puppets, theatrical animations, workshops of ancient crafts, among others.
Shows, that contribute to transport the visitor to the past in a special environment, in which there is no lack of the smell of spices, the color of the handicrafts and the taste of the food cooked at the different stops, and which are quite a festival for the senses.
The origin of the fair dates back to 1272, when King Alfonso X "El Sabio" granted an annual fair to Orihuela;
and years later, in 1295, Fernando IV would move the fair to all Saints.
