The Christmas School Program 2018 developed by the Department of Youth of the City of Totana, in collaboration with the Collective for Social Promotion "The Candle", is a resource whose objective is to offer families an alternative to work life balance and family during holiday periods, in this case during the Christmas holidays.
This Christmas 2018 edition has been developed during the non-school period of December 2018 and January 2019, starting on December 24 and ending on January 4.
A total of 100 children between 3 and 12 years old have benefited from this free resource during the Christmas edition 2018, thus equaling the number of participants from previous years, with some children also remaining on the waiting list.
This activity has been developed in two educational centers of Totana, CEIP Santiago and CEIP La Cruz, from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Within this schedule the kids have developed various activities, from crafts and creative expression workshops, to sports and healthy leisure activities, through educational games and school review, so that children can continue to advance their learning, offering a structured alternative and of quality for leisure and free time of minors during the holiday period.
Among the novelties of this year the children were able to enjoy a magic show with the Great Wizard Guillermo Avilés, as well as a pajama party, staying for the night in the school.
Another very motivating activity for the children was the realization of cooking workshops, where we could count on the collaboration of the Confectionery Rodriguez in the Santiago school to make Christmas cookies, and in the La Cruz School with the collaboration of the Confectionery "El pleasure of the cake "making roscones de reyes, both pastry chefs went to the schools and were doing the workshop and explaining the whole process to the participating children.
To conclude, it is worth noting that the participating families this year have valued this conciliation resource in a very positive way, which, being free, becomes an important measure of support for families.
In addition, the evaluations to the human team of professionals that have participated in this edition and the activities carried out with the children have been highlighted by the fathers and mothers, who have seen how their children enjoyed their vacation time.
