The Municipal Council of Equality of Totana continues working on the update of the future Equal Opportunities Plan in this municipality, and met last Thursday May 24 to evaluate the activities scheduled on March 8 and start planning improvements for the next year's program.
Currently, work is being done to update all the information related to the Equal Opportunities Plan between men and women of the municipality, gathering data from the different councils from a gender perspective.
In this sense, the municipal technicians are collecting data on the number of women workers in the City, professional categories (sex, age, etc.), still waiting to see the proportion of women and men in the census, unemployed, in training;
and what kind of trade, companies, associations;
and in what proportion are men and women involved, among other data.
Since the Department has seen fit to "educate" all and all components with information on Equality, new words that are currently read and we may not have clear what they mean depending on context.
For this, a glossary of terms related to this matter has been distributed;
At the same time we have also visualized some videos with the history of television advertising, how women are treated and how we see that, little by little, the models and advertising standards are changing (household appliances, perfumes, which also involve the men in these tasks).
The members of the Council of Equality found that most of the ads of a few years ago are totally "macho", and you can see the steps in the direction that the group of women denounce, as is the "reification" of women.
In addition, the program of activities of the Week of Tolerance and Equality of the LGTBI Collective that will be held during the last week of June, whose activities will be scheduled shortly and which is expected to be attended to, has been addressed. the same.
Finally, we continue to emphasize the associations that are the "speakers" of the meetings, each member must convey what is being done with respect to Equality inside and outside the municipality.
