The Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, the director general of Immigration and volunteering, Leopoldo Navarro, and the councilman of Social Welfare, Juan Carrion, and the Vice Consul of Ecuador was the "Regional Workshop on immigration and social participation.
And key challenges for present and future ", that have developed during this weekend at the superb under-Monasterio Hotel Santa.
This conference, organized by the Department of Social Welfare and the Federation of Immigrants in the Region of Murcia (FEDASIM), have been immigration by the technicians, professionals from different areas of citizen participation, partnerships and entities working for integration of this group as well as people interested in the subject.
The aim of this conference was to reflect and raise awareness about the reality and implications presented by the participation of immigrants currently in local environments and to disseminate the tools and conditions to be developed to make it effective.
In this sense, the mayor of Totana expressed satisfaction with the organization of this conference in the city, which have high quality speakers participated from different parts of Spain, in order to create a space for discussion at the start up of channels of participation in the area of immigration.
Also, the mayor recalled the actions that are taking from the Consistory to "raise public awareness about the need totanera intercultural coexistence in which all people have basically the same rights to prevent the occurrence of discriminatory conduct."

The conference began on Friday 27 at 09:00 am with the reception of the audience and throughout the day were going on different papers, which were given by experts in this field.
