The PP will ask the Plenary of the City Council, to be held tomorrow November 22, to provide a greater budget to the celebration of Holy Week 2018 in the municipal budget for that year.

After the approval of the 2017 Municipal Budget, the Holy Week of Totana has experienced a reduction of 80% in the contribution that the Government Team will allocate to the celebration of this Fiesta, all with the votes in favor of PSOE and IU- Win Totana and the votes against the PP and the Councilor not attached.

It implies a significant reduction of the items reserved for the promotion and dissemination of our Holy Week despite increasing the general expenditure of the City in three million euros compared to the previous budget.

The Popular Municipal Group presented the relevant allegations to the initial approval of the budget, where we expressed our rejection of the economic contribution reserved for this purpose, considering that it must be greater.

From the Popular Party we consider Holy Week as one of the most important festivities that we celebrate and that has such an impact on the tourism, commerce and hostelry sectors of the municipality.

At the beginning of this term, in September 2015, the Popular Party of Totana filed a motion, requesting the initiation from the City Council of the declaration file of NATIONAL TOURIST INTEREST OF THE WEEK SANTA DE TOTANA.

This motion was unanimously approved by all the political groups present in the plenary session and deals with a file to continue with the growth that this Fiesta Totanera deserves after the declaration in 2012, after a long road, as a Festival of Tourist Interest Regional by the Autonomous Community of Murcia.

Once the motion to request the National Tourist Interest is approved, it is time to start work so that the file begins its journey, since it is a long and complex process.

We must continue working on the consistency of those who want to make our city in this cycle of passion a living and genuine reference.

The Popular Party of Totana understood and understood that, after two years, the City Council must work to begin as soon as possible the preparation of the file that would allow the declaration of National Tourist Interest next to the Illustrious Chapter of Processions, but for that it must be reflected upwards in the budget line this commitment, contrary to what has been reflected so far by this Government Team in the municipal budgets.

Therefore, we will propose to the plenary that the 2018 budget be given a greater amount than that of the 2017 budget destined to the promotion, dissemination and promotion of Holy Week in order to initiate the elaboration from the City Council together with the Illustrious Chapter of Processions. of the file of declaration of NATIONAL TOURIST INTEREST OF THE WEEK SANTA DE TOTANA giving fulfillment to the proposal of plenary of September of 2015 approved unanimously.
