The Department of Sports reports that last Saturday, December 3, the Local Phase of Sports School Chess, organized by the Department of Sports and the Chess Club, took place in the Municipal Sports Pavilion "Manolo Ibáńez" With the participation of 54 schoolchildren from the different schools of the locality belonging to the categories Alevín and Open.
In the Alevín category, the "Tierno Galván" School was the champion, followed by the schools "Santiago" and "Santa Eulalia", in the second and third position, respectively.
In the individual modality, Carmen García Requena (Tierno Galván) was in the first place, Francisco López Martínez (La Cruz) was second, and Gustavo Rodríguez Martínez (La Milagrosa), third.
And in the Open category, IES Juan de la Cierva was the team champion in the team mode, while Ricardo Gómez Hernández (La Milagrosa) was the individual winner, followed by Juan José Vera and Cindy Ceron, both of them. IES "Juan de la Cierva", in the second and third place.
The competition concluded with the awarding of trophies and medals to the top three finishers in each category, attended by Councilor for Sports, Isabel María Molino, Councilor for Human Resources, Gertrudis Ruiz Tudela;
And the president of the Chess Club, Pedro Garre.
The best students and teams classified in this school competition will also have the opportunity to participate in the First Regional Chess School Sport Day, organized by the General Sports Department of the Region of Murcia, which will take place in Molina de Segura on the day January 28th.
