The mayor, Juan José Cánovas, is going to request the State Post Office in the Region of Murcia, in a motion that will be addressed in the ordinary plenary session of December, that it will endow as soon as possible with more human resources to Provide adequate and quality service at the Totana office.
The first mayor denounces the situation that has been occurring for months in this service due to the lack of sufficient human resources for the existing needs despite the commitment of his professionals;
which, irreversibly, translates into deficiencies in its provision.
Juan José Cánovas will demand in the proposal of the Mayor's Office that it is reinforced in personnel that currently has the Post Office in Totana, which is completely overwhelmed;
and that it is a consequence of the population increase registered in the municipality, the increase in the volume of postal traffic and the excessive increase in internet sales, among other reasons.
The Totana Post Office is staffed with five workers, one of whom has a reduction in working hours and another place is not covered by a birth permit.
Of the five employees of the workforce, there are only three and a half positions, on this date of great work volume, working.
This situation causes daily long queues of users to be organized to be attended that devalue the provision of the service and generate a situation of work stress for employees.
The mayor considers that this request is intended to prevent funding cuts in recent years from being able to reverse the public postal service, and that it has been affecting the State as a whole in recent times in order to guarantee a quality Post Office service. citizenship and its workers, both in urban areas or in large population centers and in rural areas, which may not be economically profitable but socially profitable.
The Plenary Session of the City Council of Totana already requested in August 2018 concrete solutions to Correos in this town in the absence of personnel in order to curb the deterioration in the generalized service in the postal service.
