The deputy spokesman of the Socialist Parliamentary Group stresses that it is demonstrated that it is false that the increase in debt in 2009 so far is due, by 83 percent, to the financing deficit of the current system, as maintained by the regional government The deputy speaker of the Socialist Parliamentary Group Alfonso Martínez Baños has assured that it is increasingly clear that the reform of the autonomous financing system alone will not be enough to solve the deficit problem that the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia has. Martínez Baños has made these statements after appearing in the Special Commission on Autonomous Financing in the Regional Assembly of José Carlos de la Vega, who was the representative appointed by the regional government in the Committee of Experts created by the Ministry of Finance for the reform.

of the current system. "Contrary to what the regional government says that the increase in debt in 2009 so far is due, by 83 percent, to the relative financing deficit of the current system, it is being shown that this is false," indicated the socialist deputy. In this sense, he recalled that, in the first session of this commission, Professor Fernando Ignacio Sánchez made it clear that this deficit would be around 18 percent.

"And today it has become clear, from the report made by the commission of experts that the Ministry of Finance set up in 2017, that as regards the Region of Murcia, this relative underfunding deficit would amount to around 14 or 15 per percent of the debt that the Autonomous Community has acquired since 2009 to date.

" Alfonso Martínez Baños has insisted that the reform of the regional financing system is necessary, but not sufficient, so it is necessary to take other measures, such as making a debt reduction.

"Because, otherwise, the autonomous communities are not going to have easy access to the debt market, they are going to have to continue financing themselves with the FLA, which is not eternal." In addition, it has highlighted the need to undertake a tax reform of own taxes, which are those that depend exclusively on the Autonomous Community.

"It is okay to ask the state father for more money for the autonomous financing system, but at the same time we have to be fiscally co-responsible." He has also said that a modernization or reform of the production model of the Region of Murcia is necessary.

"We have the lowest incomes, the lowest wages, the lowest pensions and the lowest per capita income.

And that has a very direct influence on consumption and taxation, we have less capacity to collect because there is less consumption and less income." Finally, the socialist deputy has indicated that it is necessary to carry out an audit on spending to eliminate everything that is not efficient spending.

"The Community budget is accumulating a lot of inefficient spending and we have to do a review, something that López Miras committed to when he took office as president."
