The Autonomous Community yesterday asked the State to guarantee the safety of transporters against the coronavirus pandemic, speeding up the supply of the masks and personal protection equipment purchased for this group.
In his request, he highlighted that the reinforcement of the safety and health conditions of the transport sector are priorities for the regional Executive since it is a group of vital importance for the supply of the basic necessities for the population.
This was explained by the Minister of Development and Infrastructure, José Ramón Díez de Revenga, to the Minister José Luis Ãbalos during a videoconference held yesterday afternoon, in which the regional responsible for transport participated.
"We have transferred the uncertainties of companies and workers in the Region of Murcia in the face of the current situation that has been manifesting us since the beginning of the crisis," he explained.
He recalled that the regional government is in "permanent contact" with the transport sector to arbitrate the measures they need, such as the elaboration of a specific protocol for the containment of the pandemic, and the request to open provisioning areas for drivers. along the Mediterranean corridor.
Díez de Revenga reported that Ãbalos accepted the proposal sent last week to the Ministry in which he was asked to ask the European Union to extend the flexibility of transport and rest times in European territory while the coronavirus crisis lasts.
This measure that has already been implemented by the State cancels the limitations and the obligatory rest and maximum driving periods since last March 10 and for a period of 30 days.
