Municipal Volunteer Service has recently launched through the Volunteer Service and International Relations of the Department of Civic Participation in collaboration with the Collective "The Candle" with the purpose to facilitate the promotion and recognition of voluntary action in the different municipal areas and to enable and ensure a real and effective participation.
To this end, the service has already begun conducting a comprehensive study of the different areas of the City of Totana, and for this important collaboration has the responsibility for each area.
Through this study is to collect the identification of each council, the activities undertaken and the availability and need for volunteers.
As an experiment has begun with the inclusion of five volunteers in the area of City Hall, for their collaboration in the Local Strategic Plan "Growing Totana 2013", which is a major municipal plan, which aims to project the municipality Totana in the future so as to ensure its successful growth, quality of life for its citizens and generally get a town dominated social welfare, "according to Eva León.
One of the guiding principles of this plan, as the coordinator of the service, citizen participation is through the incorporation of volunteers, will be incorporated in the initial phase of the project with the collection and analysis of data on the different areas of life everyday citizens of Totana.

These local volunteers will receive a series of bonuses for their work such as being able to access various services and municipal activities with a 20 percent discount on entry to public events and cultural activities, 20 percent discount on registration fees for cultural activities, leisure, 40 percent in the registration of sports, free training courses for volunteers, free urban transport and up to 50 percent discount on products and services businesses that possess the logo of "Fair Trade."
