The Local Government Board has recently approved the proposal of the Councilor for Culture, Verónica Carricondo, for an amount of 10,000 euros to help defray part of the expenses that this entity has in the program of events of Holy Week this year 2020.
Since 2011, Holy Week in Totana has been declared a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Region of Murcia, an event of special impact in our municipality, given the projection not only religious but also , and in a special way, for its historical, cultural and tourist trajectory that year after year has been increasing, assuming today for this municipality an event with a great impact on socio-economic and cultural level.
All acts, cults and processions related to Holy Week are coordinated by the Illustrious Superior Council of Processions of Totana;
Therefore, given the socio-cultural and economic impact, the Department of Culture considers it necessary to continue maintaining the economic collaboration that the Consistory of Totanero has been carrying out annually to the Illustrious Superior Council of Processions, especially for the organization and development of the activities included in the program Easter Week 2020.
In a short time, the mayor of Totana, Juan José Cánovas, and the president of the Illustrious Cabildo of Processions of Totana, José Ramón Peñalver, will sign this collaboration agreement valid for this year, committing to the organization of the program of events and processions related to the Holy Week.
