A dozen activities organised by the Local Ministry of Social Welfare through the area of immigration, are to commemorate “International Day against Racism and Racial Discrimination”, which begins this morning with the promotion of an informative campaign on resourses for the integration of the immigrant collective in Totana.

The Local Minister of Social welfare, Juan Carrión, accompanied by municipal technicians responsible for the area of immigration presented the activity programme which promotes the development of intercultural citizenship based on respect for Human Rights to avoid the discrimination and exclusion of immigrants.

During this morning, in Plaza de la Constitución, they installed an Information Stand telling neighbours about the activities which they are running during the week. Moreover, explained the technicians, this afternoon at eight o'clock they are awarding diplomas from the beautician workshop held in the Social Centre in the neighbourhood “Tirol camillero”.

Tomorrow, 26th March, from 9:30 they are going to read a manifesto and give out the prizes from the Fotomaratón Competition “Todos Contamos” in the Sociocultural Centre “Tirol Camilleri”. The work from this competition will be shown in a touring exhibition which will be in the Citizen Participation Centre until 29th March; from 30th to 5th April in the Social Services Centre, in Real Street; from 6th to 12th April, in the Sociocultural Centre “La Cárcel”; and from 13th to 19th April in the Customer Service Centre.

Moreover, at 10:30 in the morning they are going to inaugurate “III Conferences on Nutritional Training for Immigrants from the Region of Murcia", organised by the Catholic University “San Antonio”, through which participants will be able to get the food handling licence for free.

The conferences will be run in the Sociocultural Centre “Tirol Camilleri” Thursday morning, 2nd April from nine o'clock in the morning until half past one. This project explained the technician Seane Dahmi, tries to deal with the challenge of protecting and promoting health, social and work integration through information offered by specialists in the theme.

During the day tomorrow there will also be a workshop called “Manos del Mundo”, carried out by the Group for Social Promotion “El Candil” in the educoteca “Puzzle”, in the district of “El Parral” from 18:00 to 21:00; in the educoteca “Alvagón”, next to the district school, from 17:00 to 20:00; in the educoteca “Colorines”, in the Social Centre of “El Paretón”, from 10:00 to 14:00.

On Thursday, 2nd April, in the same educotecas at the same times, there will be a workshop called “En pieles Ajenas”.

The Local Minister of Social Welfare has thanked all the immigrant associations in the municipality for their collaboration in the activities organised by the Municipal Area and recognised the work undertaken by the technicians in making such a wide programme of activities which promotes the social integration of all neighbours in the municipality.

Carrrión highlighted one of the slogans which has been used in the activities, “Todos contamos”, as without the active participation of neighbours from the locality, the social integration of immigrants would not be possible.
