The councilman of Institutional Relations, Trini Cayuela, attended the tribute to "Antonio Machado and the roots totaneras" organized by the Cultural Association "Seed Fund" of the town in collaboration with the Department of Culture, held yesterday afternoon at the Socio-Cultural Center "Jail."
The event consisted of a lecture that was given by José Martinez, Cotillas Towers, and delegate to the Region of Murcia, Antonio Machado Foundation International, based in France, and president of the Cultural Association of Friends of Antonio Machado Murcia.
Jose Martinez presented his book "Night Journey by the Sea", a poetic synthesis based on a play Machado with biographical details of the poet and his family, and where the unconditional love of Antonio Machado and Leonor is another issue raised in this book where some poignant verses evoke the sad end of the couple.
Subsequently, the components of the Cultural Association "Seed Fund", proceeded to read the poems collected in this book of poetry, whose author, puts the poet Antonio Machado
The councilman of Institutional Relations, who apologized before the mayor and the councilman of Culture, was grateful to the members of the association, whose dedication and hard work are helping to encourage and promote local culture, recalling that the grandmother of Antonio Machado, Isabel Hernández Oller was born in Totana (Murcia) in 1820.
This event is part of the "Cultural Program" organized by the Culture Department of the City of Totana, which started last February and will run until April, and where different activities including drama, ceremonies, exhibitions, and poetry, among other things.
