The proposed educational intervention and mediation in schools "I-Media", developed by the Collective for Social Promotion "The Candle" in collaboration with the Service to Diversity of the Ministry of Education, Training and Employment, has launched various educational activities at Colegio San José de Totana.
The technicians of this project, in collaboration with the management team and the school teacher San Jose, developed in the first months of new year 2010, a series of workshops in the classroom with the aim of developing social competence, based on improving social skills for conflict resolution and bullying prevention.
In addition, through this project, have resumed other workshops that are taking place since the implementation of the project in October 2007, such as the Workshop on Design and Manufacture of Badges, Bracelets Workshop, Music and "Chest Comic "workshops held in the recess and provide a healthy recreational space, fun and creative development while improving social relations conflict preventing school.
The project is structured around five strands:
- Individualized educational intervention
- Assistance and guidance to families
- Mediation in conflict resolution
- Prevention activities and values education
- Coordination with other educational and social resources.
The activities presented here are included within the area of prevention and education in values, through which it has been available to the school community a resource for the prevention and school violence situations, which are expressed through conflicts between students or between student and teacher.
Through the assessment made in the previous year are taken very encouraging results, the high degree of satisfaction shown by the school community, parents of students and other local resources as the center of social services or the municipal prevention program truancy, on the other hand, in the previous year, violent responses of participating students dropped by 90% thanks to preventive work and the promotion of mutual respect and peaceful and consensual resolution of conflicts between students.
Thus from the Collective "The Candle" is committed to maintaining this type of socio resources have succeeded in improving the difficult situations faced by many kids, investing in the promotion of the individual.
Actions are undoubtedly developed through the collaboration of public authorities.
