The City Council of Totana, the region and the Integra Foundation sign an agreement for the implementation and promotion of the program Classrooms Network Open Access (Walas) to the Internet in the Region of Murcia, in order to upgrade computer equipment and Internet and teach courses related to new technologies within this program.
This program is a continuation of previous lines of action taken under the Plan for the Development of Information Society, which, with the aim of extending the knowledge and use of information technologies and communications in citizenship Region, launched a total of 1,962 posts free access to the Internet in the municipalities.
In particular, the "Network Walas Region" will create a framework that will allow the renovation, modernization, and building new classrooms open access, and will launch a joint training program based on face and online courses also other actions such as the empowerment and training of the promoters responsible for the different classrooms.
The town of Totana has 10 computer classrooms, which have appeared from the collaboration between the municipality and other government through the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Autonomous Community of Murcia, according to New Councilman Technologies, Juan Carrión.
In this way, and through this agreement will begin with the renovation of 15 old computers and throughout 2010 will continue the renovation of the rest, as well as improving your Internet connection.
Similarly, the mayor noted that the agreement will enable Alas, Walas and Telecentres are identified and matched in the same way under the name of NETWORK Walas.
