The Councillor for Social Welfare, Juan Carrion, reported that after the meeting a few days ago with the Director General of People with Disabilities of IMAS, Maria Socorro Sanchez Morente, the Community has undertaken to grant a direct subsidy to finance the equipment of the Day Centre for people with disabilities, to be located in the new Multipurpose Center in the neighborhood "Tirol Camilleri" in Totana.
The mayor applauded the meeting as specific agreements were reached in 2009 as the award of this grant and the agreed deadline for it.
The new building of over 700 square meters, whose works have been completed will be devoted entirely to the care of people with disabilities.
The infrastructure has been built on a ground floor area of 850 square meters will be located the Center for Persons with Mental Illness, families, associations and center day care for people with intellectual disabilities, as an extension of the activities of the Occupational Cenred "José Moya."
In addition, the center will have other premises for the use of partnerships related to mental illness, multipurpose spaces, offices, training rooms, double rooms for disabled toilets, kitchen, storage and porch.
The works already completed, the company claimed SL Aquilegia Contracts with a budget amounting to 762,540 euros.

In 2005 the City took over management of day care service for people with mental illness in the municipality.
That same year began the process for the construction of the Multipurpose Center.
