The Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, accompanied by the Employment and Development council, Trini Cayuela, this morning a municipal initiative pioneered in the region of Murcia, the Standing Support Service (SEAPA), which will give grants up $ 1,000 to more than 600 families who are really going Totana real economic problems arising from the crisis currently battering the country.

The SEAPA is intended as a service to persons who, being unemployed, not receiving any financial aid or family allowance and have real problems meeting basic needs like food, clothing, electricity, water or able to meet the mortgage payments or studies of young people.

Furthermore, as reported by the mayor, the main objective of this service is to advise and train these people to get a job that allows them to live in adequate conditions.

To this end, the City made through the Department of Employment and Training, specific courses for these people to enable them to recycle or get new skills to achieve employment.

In this sense, Martínez Andreo, has indicated that this new service will give concrete solutions to real problems of the residents of Totana and for this, the Session will sign agreements with companies in the agricultural and services sector to hire these people at social emergency.

Also, the municipal councilor explained that for people who obtain financial aid do not feel they receive alms may perform work for the benefit of the community associations in the municipality or by the City Council on issues related to culture, environment, volunteering, etc..

True economic effort of the council with € 600,000

The government team since the beginning of the legislature anticipated the economic crisis with the implementation of measures to support the productive sectors to promote employment.

Therefore, the mayor has indicated that to implement the SEAPA will reduce the budget of the different municipal areas of 2009 to obtain the 600,000 euros that will go to aid people suffering emergency.

The budget for this program is to get under the implementation of cuts in current expenditure of the Consistory as institutional advertising or protocol, among other issues.

City Councilman emphasized that this is a first phase of this service will increase in the case where the number of applications increase.

Martínez Andreo SEAPA explained that the operation will end of March once the budget is modified for the 2009 municipal budget which aid is transferred.

City Councilman stated that actually the government team is working towards alleviating the problems causing the economic crisis and with this measure, once you have launched projects to promote employment, there are concrete answers to current problems of the residents, who are, in many cases, such as economic resources have not even eat.

In this sense, Martínez Andreo, has stressed that all cases of aid granted to the families of Totana be sent to the National Government are satisfied that the real problems of families totaneras.

Who can get help and what is the process?

- Any person who is unemployed and receives no subsidy or aid by the family after the service launch in March, made a written record explaining the entrance of the City situation.
