Totana will soon have a Municipal Youth Plan, which aims to raise awareness among citizens and especially young people to actively join in everything that interests them, with the hope that all is a plan, as reported Councillor for Youth, Josefa María Sánchez Méndez.
As noted by the mayor, trying to create an institutional framework to facilitate the coordination of activities for young people from the different municipal areas and the different organizations, associations and groups to better use existing resources and the need to undertake a process to facilitate continuous assessment and ordered all actions carried out.
For the preparation of the Plan has a participatory methodology trying to involve all stakeholders concerned with youth (youth groups and youth associations, youth professionals and experts, other councils of the City, ...) that will enable the collection of experiences, perceptions, needs, ... from different groups and at the same time, awareness of different sectors on the importance of local actions carried out on youth in an organized and coordinated.
Initially we have started a study on Youth in Totana, conducted in 2007.
From the results shown by the analysis of the reality of young people have been culled totanera many conclusions, all related to the different municipal areas: employment, housing, health, social services, education, citizen participation, etc..
The next phase, as reported by the mayor, has consisted of individual interviews with council members and City Council staff and gathering information about the activities being carried out, especially on youth.
He also announced that soon the group interviews conducted with various youth groups and groups in the city, and it is expected that the entire design process is complete Plan for April 2009.
The results, as expressed by Sánchez Méndez, must commit not only to all levels and departments of the City of Totana, but other public and private institutions from the conviction that only good collaboration and coordination will produce the results we all hope .
