The Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, and Councilwoman Women and Equal Opportunities, Josefa María Sánchez, have announced the launch of a new service, CAVI, a Care Center for Women Victims of Violence Gender, which provides comprehensive care to women who suffer or have suffered any physical violence and psychological.
The center, created by the Institute of Women of the Region of Murcia in cooperation with the City Totana, and launched middle of last October, provides comprehensive care to women who suffer or have suffered any act of violence physical and psychological abuse including sexual freedom, threats, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, by those who are or have been their spouses or those who are or have been linked to them by similar emotions, even without cohabitation.
The purpose of CAVI, the mayor explained, "is getting these women to face life independently, giving them social skills and psychological stability needed to overcome the aftermath of abuse."

The CAVI, located at No. 1 James Street (in the former Social Services) is formed by a team of professionals who have been present at the presentation ceremony, and is composed of a psychologist, a social worker and a lawyer to offer comprehensive care, personal and continuous.

With the launch of this service, meets one of the objectives framed by the second Plan of Equal Opportunities within the area of gender violence, to combat manifestations of violence against women and provide optimal care to people suffering domestic violence.
The CAVI, in just one month of operation, has been, as reported by Josefa María Sánchez, a total of 14 cases, 6 of Spanish nationality, 3 Bolivia, 4 Ecuador, and Venezuela.
