The town of Totana has joined the acts to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women ", held today, with a silent demonstration in which we have proceeded to the reading of a manifesto who have remembered the 57 fatalities that have occurred so far this year.

Almost a hundred people, including Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, Councilwoman Women and Equal Opportunities, Josefa María Sánchez Méndez, and more councilors and representatives of various associations of the town and neighbors in general, have shown firmer commitment to the fight against gender violence, since prevention and victim support have become the two pillars for combating such violence.

With this act, as has been evident in the manifesto, the city of Totana and the City Council's Equal Opportunities show their rejection and denunciation positioning the persistence of one of the most virulent forms of discrimination based on sex : violence against women.

This activity has been driven by the Municipal Council of Equality as a series of measures being carried out as the concentration of condemnation and rejection that takes place the first Wednesday of each month and has been termed as "Black Wednesday" .
