The Councillor for Environment, Trini Cayuela, representing the Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, has presided over an emotional ceremony in which 16 students representing different schools in the town have joined their voices and proceeded to read a manifesto on the occasion of the celebration of International Day for the Rights of the Child. "

Small, colleges of "La Cruz", "Santiago", "Santa Eulalia", "Reina Sofia" and "La Milagrosa", have read the ten basic principles of the Rights of the Child, which provide guidance to many nations world and were made on 20 November 1959 by the General Assembly of the United Nations.

The students, during their turn to speak, explained that thousands of children as they live in poverty, homeless, without legal protection, without access to education, neglect and affected by diseases.

They have also stressed that the text of the United Nations should serve all those states that want to care for their youngest citizens and provide an adequate quality of life.

In this sense, Trini Cayuela has indicated that the rights afforded to all children in the world, therefore, as stated by the mayor, this is a long-term challenge for every country, every institution, every community and every individual.

For this reason, the council recalled that the City Council of Totana have scheduled a series of activities to promote different activities in relation to health, culture, education, among others.

At the end of the event, has delivered a series of gifts to children who had participated in the reading of the manifesto.

This evening at six, the councilman for Children, Josefa María Sánchez Méndez, will present the awards Painting Competition on the Rights of the Child in the Sociocultural Centre "Jail."
