The Department of Facility Management Services and the City has reported that it has proceeded to fell the trees at the entrance of the Municipal Cemetery "Nuestra Señora del Carmen", because their roots were causing great damage to the cemeteries which are cataloged historically.
Residents of the municipality, who are owners of the graves and cemeteries attached to this street, for months, have moved to the Department its disappointment over the damages that were causing the cypress trees to the tombs.
In this regard, the council and Comprehensive Maintenance Services of the City, Sergio Cánovas López, explained that following complaints from the neighbors moved a technician from area to area and that after an exhaustive study issued a negative report on the damage were causing the trees have been felled at the graves and mausoleums that are historically protected.
In addition, said the mayor, stormwater, along with dirt on them, had deteriorated throughout the whole located at the entrance of the municipal cemetery.
The trees have been felled are being replaced by "yours dwarfs" that are no more than five feet.
The area councilor said that it has chosen this type of tree because its roots are small and can not damage the places of burial.
In addition, the Department will consider the situation where are the rest of the trees throughout the cemetery, since, as confirmed López, roots elsewhere are also affecting the graves and cemeteries.
