The Councillor for Education, Roque Molina Legaz, made a very positive assessment on the work of the Municipal Plan for Prevention and Control of School Absenteeism, where there have been a total of 168 cases operated during the 2007-2008 school year.
In this regard, reported that this service has attended during the past school year 2007/08 for a total of 168 truancy cases referred from different schools in the municipality.
Of the total cases treated, 21 are children, 71 primary and 77 secondary schools.
In kindergarten there is a 1.66% of school absenteeism in primary 3.56% and 6.16% compulsory secondary one, with the overall rate of truancy in the town of Totana 3.73%.
In terms of ethnicity of the students referred to the Municipal Service Absenteeism, the mayor noted that the total of 168 cases referred, 77 (41.66%) cases were indigenous, natives of the municipality of Totana, 52 Roma (30, 95%), 33 of South American nationality (19.25%) and the rest of the students belong to nationalities Moroccan, Portuguese, Pakistani, English and French.
From the results obtained by partner and family interventions conducted with students and their families are derived data and that 60% of truancy cases has improved, decreasing the number of truancy and improve attendance reaching.
Moreover, 14.28% remained at the same rate, corresponding mainly to high school students.
