Totana City Council has called the Municipal Council for Citizen Participation, for the second time this term, in order to tackle the project called the "Sustainable Development Strategies and Integrated" (EDUSI) Totana;
which will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, January 20, from 20:30 pm in the Socio-Cultural Center "Jail", open to the public.
In the Municipal Council of Citizen Participation and rehabilitation activities planned for urban regeneration urban (ARRU), with which it is intended to involve the society in the city model for the future they will also be discussed.
The EDUSI is a program that will be funded by the ERDF 2014/2020 sustainable growth program, whose main objective is to improve the quality of life for residents in an integrated manner;
ie including issues ranging from social cohesion and the fight against poverty, to the promotion of low-carbon economy, environmental sustainability and resource optimization.
The Consistory is already immersed in the development of its Strategic Plan with the horizon since 2020, based on the model that the European Union has defined as Strategy for Sustainable and Integrated (EDUSI) Development, whose strategy is necessary for Totana can access EU funds available to local authorities.
Europe 2020 strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth in the European Union;
and within this strategy, the European Commission believes that cities are central to the model of sustainable development and therefore fostered through structural and cohesion policy funds, the implementation of integrated sustainable urban development measures integrating social, economic and environmental areas of cities from an integrated perspective.
Thus, the goal of the City of Totana is developing a Sustainable Urban Development Strategy for the municipality;
a tool that has become necessary to obtain European funding needed for urban development of the city framed in the multiannual financial framework EU 2014/2020.
The project has several lines of integrated action through social cohesion and equality, environment and urban regeneration;
employment, entrepreneurship and trade;
infrastructure, cultural heritage and tourism;
and citizen participation and open government, among others.
In addition, most of the population is concentrated in Totana town center, however, historic neighborhoods have suffered a gradual degeneration negative impact on urban mobility parameters, maintenance and protection of heritage and in the integration and economic and social development of their citizens.
Especially affected have been the districts of San Jose, Las Parras, San Roque and La Prison, although the impact of this degradation affecting the entire municipality.
The City Council is planning a Citizen Participation Plan for the implementation of the EDUSI in order to involve citizens in the design and evaluation of public policies.
The objective of the Plan is to involve the residents of Totana in implementing the EDUSI.
On the Citizen Participation Plan distinguished between two types of target audience.
On one side are the institutional players (neighboring municipalities, autonomous community, technical services of the City Council, associations, companies, etc.) and other citizens as individuals.
Activities to each other and forms of participation in the Plan will be different and adapted to each case, public presentations may contain maps agents, sectoral meetings, working groups, commissions and tips, information and communication activities, conferences open, web pages, surveys and so on.
In fact, the municipal government, along with municipal technicians involved in the field, have already held a meeting to coordinate the actions and measures that will be taken in this regard.
