A total of twelve students participating in this new course on "Occupational Classroom" program that aims to encourage educational promotion and prevent early school leaving age;

Totana Town Council, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities, launched, once again, remedial education project in which appointment of secondary school students are given, from the IES "Juan de la Cierva and "Prado Mayor" and schools "Reina Sofia" and "Guadalentín" El Paretón.

The program is being developed in Totana under the agreement between the Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities and the Service to Diversity and the Department of Education of the City of Totana.

With this, it seeks to encourage young people to stay in the education system by providing an opportunity to continue their education, and facilitating obtaining the title of the ESO and its incorporation into the Initial Professional Qualification Programs.

The opening ceremony was attended by the mayor, Juan José Canovas, the Councillor for Education, Eulalia Moreno, director of the IES "Juan de la Cierva y Codorniu" Juan Francisco Otálora, and heads of study centers and program coordinators, Ana Andreo (IES Juan de la Cierva) and Pilar Pasquel (municipal coordinator).

Students are, at this time, a basic education in the socio-linguistic and scientific-technological fields corresponding to level 2 of the ESO, together with an initial training will consist of a workshop of Cuisine and Pastry.

According to them, it is especially easy rejoining the educational system and its continuity in Initial Vocational Training Program.

The objectives of the Occupational Classroom figure also promote the development of social and communication skills as well as values ​​education and guidance and advice to educational alternatives.

To do this, they conducted a series of workshops and complementary throughout the academic year activities.

Project classes are developed in municipal facilities Socio-Cultural Center "Jail" in hours 8:20 to 14:20 hours, Monday to Friday, with the modality that will impart Workshop Kitchen and Pastry .

The training of students will be taught by two teachers and a technical teacher at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities, also part of the team coordinating and monitoring the classroom, a teacher of the IES "Juan de la Cierva y Codorniu" and municipal technician.

This program is a measure promoting education aimed at prevention and control of truancy, offering young people an opportunity to continue their education.

It is to equip students for pre-employment skills, especially facilitating their return to the educational system and its continuity in Initial Vocational Training Program.

During the course, students acquire basic culinary processes of production, supply and storage of materials and hygiene in the handling, while continuing his academic training in basic instrumental areas such as language and mathematics.

Students participating in the program receive training from a professional team consisting of two teachers and a technical teacher, hired by the Ministry of Education and a teacher of the IES Prado Mayor and the Department of Technical Education to coordinate the program and They will monitor these children.
