Route "Totana, today to its origins" was held on Saturday 13th with great success

The town of Totana had its primitive initial settlement on the site of The Cabezuelas.

The excavation organized by the Association Kalathos this past summer has begun to report more information on this site that will help us better understand our origins.

A large number of totaneros could enjoy Saturday 13th of discoveries that have occurred in Las Cabezuelas, both remnants of dwellings and the urban fabric of this town whose chronology extends from the Late Bronze Age to the Arab period, and some ceramic objects found.

The route began at the headquarters of the association at the Plaza Balsa Vieja.

There attendees learned the origin and development of the present town of Totana.

The first settlement was initiated in the first century AD by the Romans, but the most important historical event that will mark the future of the city will be produced from the donation of Aledo and Totana to the Order of Santiago in 1257.

The tour continued with a visit of the Moorish oven, pottery tradition vestige of the city and has been renovated in 1996. The route now takes us to the beautiful walk we made between the Moorish oven and the Cross of Camachos, passing under the imposing Bow Ollerías, which brought water from Sierra Espuña to Totana.

The next and last stop of the route ultimate goal was the site of Las Cabezuelas, where after the explanation of the site, like us to move to the second century BC, a group of Roman warriors came to this town and delighted us with weapons and tactics used during their bloody battles.

These warriors are part of the Association Legio Prima, which are a group of historical reenactment and archaeological experimentation, and have collaborated with the Kalathos Association for the realization of this route.

For those who have not been able to attend this activity, or want to repeat, on Saturday January 3rd we will do it.
