The Full Council of Totana today agreed unanimously to dedicate a public space to the figure of Nelson Mandela, who recently passed the proposal of the Municipal Socialist Group.
The agreement was reached during the regular meeting of December last year, after his death, on 5 December, at age 95, whose life was marked by his struggle for human rights, a symbol in the struggle for a better world.
This proposal came to assign space in order to honor his memory and above all not to forget his legacy.
The struggle of Mandela earned a multitude of awards and recognition around the world, most notably the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993, the Prince of Asturias Award for International Cooperation and fifty honorary doctorates.
In addition, the green light was given, the votes in favor of and against the PP PSOE and IU, the amendment to the whole by the Councillor for Employment to the motion of the Socialist Group on employment promotion, laying agrees presents the Employment Plan in January 2014 and local groups provide input to the guidelines and strategies of that document.
Agreements on a proposal from IU
It was also agreed, unanimously, the motion of the United Left-Greens to develop a timetabled action plan on the characteristics and condition of water networks and thus to remove materials containing lead and asbestos in those water infrastructure.
The initiative includes conducting a comprehensive study on the status of the drinking water in the town and the districts in which materials are lead and asbestos, as well as a quantification of meters replaced with approximate budgets and performance schedule.
In this regard, also agreed to apply for funding to the Autonomous Community and the Central Government to perform, environmentally friendly and Chief Investment Health Plan in substitution of such networks for materials adapted to the European directives.
It is further agreed to develop a public information campaign and adopt measures to prevent risks to workers of the water service in the handling and treatment of contaminants such as was done prior to the service municipalise waste.
Finally, unanimously approved the motion to IU for the purpose for which it was designed the PISA program to improve levels of educational quality, taking into account the different sectors (unions, political parties are met, parents and not just management) in order to achieve a framework for a stable and consensual education legislation.
It was also agreed, in the same order of topics, take into account the obligation of the State compensating for budgetary allocations to support programs, truancy programs and all those items that can actually compensate search socioeconomic inequalities are not reduced students.
