Students of the University of Murcia collaborate as volunteers in a tutoring program that the institution, through its Service to Diversity and Volunteerism being developed in schools in the town of Totana.
The activity is part of an agreement between the University and the local council, which was signed today in the building of convalescence, where the mayor, Isabel Maria Sanchez, thanked the academic institution's offer to participate in a project which benefit from the month of January and for free, thirty-five children from seven schools totaneros.
The Vice President for Student and Employment, Maribel Sanchez-Mora, said that this initiative for children and youth in cultural disadvantage is being successfully implemented in other municipalities in the region.
For his part, the president, José Antonio Cobacho, has referred to the University of Murcia as a century-old institution that serves the society Murcia.
"In difficult times in the country, the University has to be there with their volunteers, and will always be," he concluded.
