The Mayor of Totana, Isabel Maria Sanchez, met with the European Commissioner for Social Policy, Johannes Hand, and the President of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, the mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, and Mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez.
The municipal councilor explained that the Region of Murcia has received over the past seven years more than 240 million euros to help the economic and social development through the Cohesion Fund, and the European Commissioner has stated that it will continue to send funds to the development of this region.
Also, the mayor has indicated that he has been asked to allocate grants from the European to mitigate the effects of floods in the region, as they have been many companies, families and neighbors who have been affected by the floods.
