The Department of Agriculture and Water Totana will raise a motion at the June regular full request in which the Ministry of Agriculture and Water maintenance of aid for the procurement of agricultural insurance to be a crucial tool for defense of the agricultural sector in Totana and its region, given the need to mitigate the risk of producing a result of adverse weather.
The mayor's proposal also includes Diego Muñoz urge the Ministry of Agriculture to mediate with the regions affected to save aid for the procurement of agricultural insurance.
As indicated by the motion of Muñoz, in several recent meetings that the Department of Agriculture has held with representatives of unions and agricultural organizations established in Totana, it has been found widespread unease and concern that exists between farmers and ranchers to be Murcia one of three autonomous regions who want to deny aid to continue to subsidize agricultural insurance, which can result in exorbitant premiums rising.
The refusal of these communities, among which are also Extremadura and Castilla Leon, to subsidize the hiring of agricultural insurance as now can be done "unaffordable" recruitment for a large part of the producers.
Apparently, it is known that in the next regional budgets under grants to agricultural insurance has disappeared as a result of liquidity problems that exist in government, but in a region like this in which agriculture is keeping part of the crises that bring productive sectors this measure is not sustainable or understandable.
Moreover, this situation will create a situation of unfair competition for other Spanish regions and the destruction of jobs in agriculture and livestock.
